Georgia College and State University is a liberal arts public college in Milledgeville, Georgia. Located within easy driving distance of Atlanta and Macon, yet far enough away from the state's major population centers to have its own atmosphere, Milledgeville is a quintessential college town with shopping, culture, bars and restaurants, and outdoor entertainment that caters to the town's thriving college crowd. Golfing, biking, fishing in Lake Sinclair, and visiting the Lockerly Arboretum are all activities the students at Georgie College enjoy in their downtime.

With more than 5,900 undergraduate students and 300 full-time graduate students, the college is large enough to provide a lively student atmosphere yet also boasts a small teacher-to-student ratio. This provides plenty of small group and one-on-one activities for students who enjoy a personalized, guided learning environment. Students work with educators to develop a mutually beneficial relationship that not only improves their learning, but also helps them develop critical thinking skills and develop an appreciation for discovery.

Georgia College's liberal arts education teaches students more about their chosen field of study and also teaches them how to critically think about a topic. These skills help them develop self-confidence and learn how to explore topics from a number of angles. In addition to a superior liberal arts curriculum on the Milledgeville campus, Georgia College also provides graduate programs online and at Robins AFB and professional learning and graduate studies in nearby downtown Macon.

The liberal arts focus of the college emphasizes community involvement and more than 46 percent of the school's current students volunteer their time. The GIVE Center, located on campus, provides students with opportunities to get involved on local, state, national, and international levels. This helps students meet others as well as develop a lifelong passion for giving back. The Center assists in organizing large fundraising events as well as placing students in service organizations or individual volunteering positions based on their interests and skills.

In addition to community involvement through volunteering, the students at Georgia College also participate in intramural sports, Greek life, and campus clubs including comedy troupes, political groups, media clubs, and much more.
