Thomas Edison State University

Thomas Edison State University is one of the only 11 public institutions of higher learning located in the state of New Jersey. Founded in 1972, the original location of the college was just outside of the city, which led to students taking classes on a more suburban campus. Called Thomas Edison State College for a number of years, it decided to move locations and offer classes in Trenton. Trenton was just one of the major cities in the country with a struggling economy at the time. The city leased several historic structures for use as the college's new campus, which the university still uses today. TESU slowly expanded and began taking over other buildings in the city. It has a strong reputation for renovating those buildings to maintain the historic integrity of each one while modernizing the interiors.

The university now offers around 13 degree programs for bachelor's students and more than 100 majors for those students as well as more than 10 degree programs for upper level students. Those classes are available through the five schools on the campus that include the School of Applied Science and Technology and the School of Business and Management. The university now has a unique program called the E-Pack program that allows students to take courses for either a passing or failing grade without doing the written assignments that other students do. Thomas Edison State University was one of the first colleges in the nation to introduce online classes for students. Thomas Edison State University Accreditation Details

To get financial aid to help pay for your education, you need to attend a college with the right type of accreditation. Those attending Thomas Edison State University will find that it has the right form of accreditation, which comes from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). To ensure that the university continues meeting the needs of its graduating students, the MSCHE requires that the university renew its accreditation. Thomas Edison never had any problems during this renewal process since making the transition from a college to a full university. The nursing program that the university offers has accreditation as well, which comes from both the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Thomas Edison State University Application Requirements

The School of Business and Management has its own requirements for incoming students. You must apply and complete all application requirements prior to the deadline associated with the semester when you will start classes. This deadline is in the middle of August for those starting in the fall, the end of November for those starting in the winter and the beginning of April for those who want to start in the summer. You will also need to complete the application, which the university offers on its admissions website, and answer all questions on that application to the best of your abilities.

The application includes four essay questions. You will need to pick one and write a response of no more than 500 words. Tuition and Financial Aid

As Thomas Edison State University is a public university, you may notice that tuition is a little lower here than at other schools, especially if you look at the costs charged at a private university. The basic cost is $668 per credit hour. Most full-time students take between nine and 12 credits in a semester, but some students take more or less classes. If you enroll in the university's MBA program, your cost will climb to $714 per credit hour. You must also pay an application fee of $75 and a graduation fee of around $330. All students are responsible for their own personal expenses too, which include the cost of transportation as well as supplies and textbooks.

This program includes a core that is worth 18 credits and features courses like leadership management in the 21st century, economic issues in organizations, human resource management and finance and accounting for managers. You will also need to take a class on organizational research and pick between taking a class on either marketing management or project management. When you take a capstone in your final semester, you'll do some type of project or write a paper that makes use of everything you learned in the program. The university asks that students take a course called leading strategic change too. Thomas Edison State University also requires that students pick a field of study in accounting, organizational leadership or project management.
