According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for psychologists is projected to grow by 19 percent through the year 2024. This number includes psychologists in private practice as well as school settings. But in order to become an educational psychologist, school counselor, or school psychologist, a master’s degree is required. Most master’s programs require work experience prior to admission, so many educators and professionals going back to school to earn a master’s degree do not want to give up their job. Online options are now available to accommodate working students.

We looked at 79 accredited colleges and universities listed by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) College Navigator that offered online master’s in educational psychology, school counseling, or closely related programs.
