Indiana Wesleyan University is a Christian based academic organization that is committed to changing the world by developing students who have strong character, leadership skills and scholarly abilities. Because of this, Indiana Wesleyan University focuses on guiding students through integrative learning, empowering them to fulfill their purpose and help them discover their life calling. The university is affiliated with the Wesleyan Church denomination. They are not only the largest member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, but they are also the biggest private university in Indiana. Indiana Wesleyan University is located outside the city of Marion and offers a quiet, suburban campus. The city of Marion is located in Grant county, which offers plenty of recreational options for outdoor enthusiasts. This includes hiking, boating, swimming, and park facilities at the nearby Salamonie and Mississinewa reservoirs. There are four golf courses and Marion city’s Mississinewa Riverwalk nearby.
Indiana Wesleyan University offers a variety of liberal arts degrees, which includes almost 90 undergraduate majors. The university offers Associate, Bachelor and Master of Arts and Science Degrees. They also have a doctoral program in organizational leadership. The university is academically divided into five colleges. The College of Arts and Sciences offer traditional four-year liberal arts degrees, the College of Graduate Studies offers traditional semester-based masters degrees and the College of Adult and Professional Studies offer working adults accelerated and non-traditional programs for working adults. Indiana Wesleyan University Application Requirements
Those who want to apply to the online Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MS-HRM) program will need to have a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a college that is accredited by either one of the six regional accrediting bodies or the Association for Biblical Higher Education. This accreditation must be demonstrated on the official transcripts that are sent directly to Indiana Wesleyan University. Students will need to have an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher and have completed at least 30 credit hours. Applicants who GPA is below 2.5 may be admitted on a probationary basis. In order to graduate, students must complete all required curriculum credits with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum “C” grade for each course. Students who earn a grade of “C-” or below will be required to retake the failed class.
Indiana Wesleyan University Tuition and Financial Aid
Students of the online Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MS-HRM) program will pay $541 to $561 per credit hour. The total cost of the program, which includes fees, books and tuition, will be determined before enrollment. These costs can be divided into multiple payments that are spread over the program course. Students may be required to take prerequisite courses. Financial aid is available through loans, grants, scholarships, veteran benefits and employer reimbursement programs. For example, grants do not need to be repaid and are available to those who demonstrate certain levels of financial need.
There are scholarships that are awarded to students who meet certain criteria, such intended major or geographical location, and discounts through reductions of the hourly credit rate. There are loans that must be repaid starting six months after graduation. Students of the Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MS-HRM) program will learn the basics of human resources management, so they can effectively manage the various challenges faced by HR professionals everywhere. Students will learn how to leverage effective HR planning to help managers influence the quality of products, productivity and performance of employees. Students learn about recruiting and selecting staff in order to match organizational needs. They learn how counseling and engaging staff for professional development can improve employee engagement. Other basic topics include negotiating internal conflict, practicing effective communication and providing effective feedback. Students also learn about the broad area of applied management theory, so they will gain the practical skills necessary for working in global business environments. Students are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills and enhanced cultural awareness in order to create solutions to challenging management problems.
When it comes to student activities, there are plenty of opportunities Indiana Wesleyan University. For example, the Adventure Learning program offers indoor and outdoor activities to students through a 65 acre adjacent property that offers campsites, pavilion, hiking trails and even a low ropes challenge course. Students can take elective courses through the Recreation and Wellness Center. There are many student organizations that promote learning, service, leadership and spiritual growth. There are media, academic, professional and recreational groups available. These include the Association of International Relations (AIR), which fosters integrated faith and active participation in global issues, and the Community of Accountants, which helps students apply the finance knowledge they learn in the classroom.
