Mansfield University of Pennsylvania
Mansfield University of Pennsylvania is a small college in Pennsylvania that opened in 1857 as a seminary. Just five years after opening, the man running the school applied for a license to change its designation to that of a normal school. This change allowed the seminary to offer educational programs for teachers, which led to the campus becoming the Mansfield Normal School. When it gained the right to offer degrees in the 1920s, it changed its name again and became a state teaching college. The school also served as the Mansfield State College before adopting the name Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in the early 1980s. This university is one of 14 schools in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
Since changing from a teaching college, Mansfield University of Pennsylvania expanded its curriculum and now offers more than 60 bachelor degree programs as well as a small number of associate degree programs. These programs offer practical training and can help students transition into a bachelor's program. Though the university does not offer any doctoral programs, it does have six master's programs. Students can also minor in one of more than 40 subjects as an undergrad and choose from different concentrations in its graduate school. The university has a small enrollment of just over 2,700 students and has a friendly environment.

Mansfield University of Pennsylvania not only has institutional accreditation but accreditation for some of its programs too. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education granted the university regional accreditation and continued to renew its accreditation each time it comes up for renewal, which usually occurs around every 10 years. All its business programs have accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, and those who study social work will find that those programs have accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education. Mansfield University of Pennsylvania also has accreditation for its programs in nursing, dietetics and radiology from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics and Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. Other programs with specialized accreditation include those in respiratory therapy, music and chemical science.
Mansfield University of Pennsylvania Application Requirements
Mansfield University of Pennsylvania now offers six master's programs that include those in education and other studies. It gives students the option of enrolling in an online programs or an offline and more traditional program. Before you can work on the application, you need to create a new account. The university asks for your full name, date of birth and current email address. You also need to list your current address and at least one phone number as well as some other basic information. New users must also create a user name and a password that contains at least five characters. You can even add a secret question and answer that helps you access your account if you forget your password. Anytime that you want to work on your application, you visit the site and enter your information.
When it comes time to submit your application, you'll need to use a credit card or debit card to pay the $25 application fee. Mansfield University of Pennsylvania also requires an official transcript from any college or university that you attended and earned credits from that count towards your degree. If you have a nursing or teaching license, you must provide information about that license too. You may need to supply a letter of intent that explains the program you want to study, your resume and/or letters of recommendation as well.
Tuition and Financial Aid
The amount that you pay to attend Mansfield University of Pennsylvania depends on the total number of credits that you take. Pennsylvania residents pay $483 per credit plus miscellaneous fees like a technology fee and a student activity fee. Nonresidents pay the same fees and a tuition rate of $725 per credit. Though the university takes part in the good neighbor program, which reduces tuition costs for residents of nearby states, graduate students from those states pay the same rate as nonresidents.
When you fill out the FAFSA and select the university as the school you will attend, it uses that form to determine how much aid you qualify for and what type of aid is best for you. Your aid package will likely include one or more loans as well as at least one grant. Mansfield University of Pennsylvania offers a Master of Education in School Library and Information Technologies for graduate students who have a teaching degree and those who have a bachelor's degree in another area. You will need to take at least 32 credits of work. Though it takes most students two or three years to finish, full-time students can complete the program in just one year. The university recommends the one-year program for those who do not work because the level of study is so intense. As this is an interstate program, you can actually earn your school library certification in a state other than Pennsylvania.

If you live outside of the state, you must take a series of classes on educational tests such as the fundamental subjects content knowledge test. These classes prepare you for taking the exams that library specialists must take. All students must take four required courses that include educating children with exceptional needs, diverse cultural learners and instruction for students with disabilities. You'll also take a class on assessing and managing students with behavior issues that focuses on how to gain control over those students.
