Nebraska Methodist College, commonly referred to as NMC, is a private, nonprofit health professions institution of higher learning residing in Omaha, Nebraska. It is affiliated with the Nebraska Methodist Health System, which is one of the largest healthcare systems in the state. Nebraska Methodist College is the only nursing and allied health institution that has continuously operated since its founding. It is committed to providing students with a caring, close-knit academic community that fosters meaningful relationships and sets them up for success. Nebraska Methodist College offers certificate, associate degree, bachelor's degree, master's degree, and doctoral degree programs through its allied health, nursing, and healthcare management departments. Each department offers an array of programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Students experience a holistic approach of caring while gaining proficiency in the art and science of healthcare. The curriculum is practical-based incorporated with the liberal arts to provide students with a well-rounded foundation and educational experience. Nebraska Methodist College offers 42 certificate and degree programs both on campus and online. The majority of instructors have advanced degrees and certifications to bring a sound level of expertise to the classroom. The student to faculty ratio is 12 to one and over have of the courses have less than 20 students. Faculty is committed to student success, and currently NMC has a 75 percent retention rate.

Nebraska Methodist College was founded in 1891 as Diploma School of Nursing, a training school to provide care and comfort to the patients. The first graduating class of six nurses was in 1893. The school gained its first nursing accreditation in 1956. In 1985, the school was changed to a degree granting institution with the ability to offer programs in allied health. It was incorporated as a college in 1988. The first bachelor's degree was granted in 1989. The name then changed to the Nebraska Methodist College of Nursing and Allied Health. IT started offered master's degrees in 1996. The college continued to grow and add new programs and in 2005 an additional campus opened and the college became Nebraska Methodist College. Today, Nebraska Methodist College is home to more than 1,100 students.

Federal Work-Study Program

Students who demonstrate financial need are eligible to participate in the Federal Work Study program. It provides on-campus and off-campus jobs to both part-time and full-time students. Students typically work 10-15 hours per week and are paid every other week. Pay is at least current minimum wage, but actual pay varies by employer, position, duties, and qualifications of the student.

Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Executive at Nebraska Methodist College

Nebraska Methodist College offers a Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Executive program. It is intended for experiences nurses seeking to pursue senior management positions in various areas. The program provides students with a business acumen and management techniques incorporated with acquired experience to prepare them for executive leadership roles. Students must complete at least 36 credit hours. The core courses include issues in advanced nursing roles, advanced nursing roles, measurement and statistical concepts for data interpretation, critical appraisal of knowledge for practice, synthesis and use of knowledge for evidence-based practice, organizational behavior and structure, and role of the nurse executive.

Along with coursework, students complete projects, capstone, and practicum experiences. Through the practicum experiences students gain valuable administrative skills. The program is offered completely online and can be finished in 21 months.
