Commonly referred to as UB, the University of Bridgeport is a non-sectarian, independent, private university located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The University of Bridgeport is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The Master of Science in Nutrition degree is accredited by the Connecticut Board of Governors Office of Higher Education. Since the MS program is not a dietetics training program and does not include an internship that is required for students to sit for the R.D. credential, accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics is not required.
University of Bridgeport Application Requirements
Students applying into the Master of Science in Nutrition degree may come from science and nonscience backgrounds. Applicants should have completed all prerequisite coursework, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college and a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Tuition and Financial Aid
The online M.S. in Nutrition at the University of Bridgeport costs approximately $790 per credit hour. Students are required to pay a general fee of $215 as well as a health science program fee of $50. Students should also be prepared to pay a one-time orientation fee during the first semester of $195.

The degree can help to prepare students for licensure and certification, including the Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN), the Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) and admission into the American Clinical Board of Nutrition’s diplomate program (DACBN). Those seeking a CNS designation may apply for 255 hours of supervised experience after they pass the virtual clinic class required for the M.S. degree.
